The Palms before the Storm

  Welcome to the blog of Chelane and Johannes, and welcome to the insanity we call life as we attempt to cope with the imminent arrival of our child. In this blog, we hope to prove that our lifestyle can continue despite having a child. I can feel the tremors of heads shaking, and we understand the many pitfalls involved, but as new parents with an idealized future stuck fast in our brains, humor us. Our thesis is as follows: Our children will live our lives, as opposed to us living theirs, this will be shown by our attempts to influence the children to sleep well, enjoy an active lifestyle, and complain minimally, that is until puberty, at which point drama will ensue despite our best efforts.
  At this point, January 20, 2011, we are enjoying a week in Palm Springs, CA, soaking up the sun  and visiting family. This small reprieve is referred to as our "Babymoon",  a concept I, Johannes, had not heard of until recent years. This time and place will be the launch point for the future! We hope you will laugh and cry with us, and look back in years ahead to say either that we were geniuses in child rearing, or  just delusional and soon to be wakened to reality. Please, take our hand and come with us. Cheers!
