4 Weeks- Almost Starting to Figure Things Out

By the time a baby is a month old, you would think that we would have something figured out. Evidently Jo and I are slower than usual as new parents or maybe this is more challenging than one would think. We finally figured out this week that Pepper was extra fussy because she was not getting enough to eat. Supplementation has been a miraculous life saver. She is happy, content, and getting chubby! She gained 14 oz. in 5 days. This week was pretty special because the weekend was full of family fun. Graduation activities to the max!  (More on all that in the next blog.)

Rocks

Jo is working on the house whenever he can get away. He is working on the basement window wells right now and he decided that rock would be visually appealing. He is also hoping that Mom and Dad will be able to plant moss and shade plants in between the rocks to make it even prettier. Anyway, he found out that you can get a free permit to collect rocks up Tiger Canyon. So... that is what he has been doing. The size of the rocks he has collected is amazing and my pictures do not do them justice. Pepper and I went with him one day as a fun little excursion. Pepper was not quite as impressed as I was, she slept the entire time.

Celebrating 7 Years of the Most Incredible Adventure Ever!

It all started 10 years ago, two friends on a road trip to Port Townsend. The friendship grew and seven years ago we committed to being there for each other through thick and thin...

This year we committed to bringing a little one into our lives and building a house... Our adventure has been and continues to be an amazing one. We are truly lucky to be married to our best friend.

3 weeks- The Fun is Only Beginning!

This week was a lot of fun! It started with the long Memorial Day weekend. Aunt Kitty Kat, Cousin Sebastian and his friend Robert were visiting. They had a blast playing in the pond, despite needing to get out to warm up every once in a while. The pond water is really quite chilly! On Sunday we had a fun little baby shower for our good friends Sherisa and Broc. They are having a little girl in just a couple weeks and we are so excited for them! The food was awesome and it was so fun to connect with friends that we don't get to see very often.
Next, my friend Corrie came to visit. She was a lot of help and encouragement to me, and it is always nice to have some time with Shawntae and Corrie. Now we just have a few days of quietness before another fun wave of visitors hits for graduation next weekend. We can't wait!

Framing Continued

As Jo and I have been busy with our new little one, the house continues to grow quickly. Gene has been going crazy on the framing and this week has even started on the top floor. It is incredibly fun to walk through all the "rooms" and get a feel for their size.

Amazingly, our child is already smiling... yep she is a genius.

Sometimes she gets tired of smiling.

This second week home was a blur. Sleep deprivation combined with the humble feeling of new parent uncertainty made the week a bit hazy. We are learning a lot each day,  and probably the biggest thing we have learned is that whatever works today will not work tomorrow or the next day. Pepper is testing our stamina and she can sense fear... we will stay strong (as long as our mom's come over frequently to help)...  Thank you to EVERYONE that has helped or offered to help, or even called to check on us. We feel the love and support!
