6 Weeks- The Smiles Begin

Pepper is now growing so fast! She weighed in at 9 lbs, which is a 2 lb weight gain in two weeks. Sometimes in the mornings she looks bigger than she did the night before. Now that may be my sleep deprivation talking or maybe she really is growing while she sleeps. She is consistently sleeping a 4 hour block at night, and every once in a while a 5 hour block. It is so wonderful! This week was a busy one. Aunt Kitty Kat and Sebastian were visiting this weekend. She also had the honor of meeting Great Grandma Edna. Pepper is Great Grandma Edna's 48th great grandchild! We remind Pepper how special it is that she has three great grandmothers to get to know! While visiting great grandma, she also got to know Ezekiel a little better. I'm sure they will be the best of buds someday!
We also went to a shower honoring Scarlett and MacLaren, Jason and Lisa's twins. They are about 4 months ahead of Pepper and are so cute! I have a lot of respect for Lisa managing twins plus a toddler. It makes me want to take a nap just thinking about it!
I started running again... ok I admit it, it was a very slow jog. I felt pretty good so I went 3 miles and then walked the 4th. The next day I felt every muscle in my body, even muscles in my feet! It was so worth it! While Jo trains for the marathon at the Haulin' Aspen, I think I'll train for the 7 miler. I can't miss out on that awesome shirt!
The coolest newest thing that Pepper started this week is smiling! It is amazing to see that little face light up with a big smile. I can't get her to do it consistently at me, but she smiles every time at the animals that hang above her chair. She also often has smiles for the Grandmas. They are, after all, pretty awesome!

Before Pepper was born my mom found the outfit that she had brought me home from the hospital in. It is a cute little pink dress complete with a plastic lined diaper cover. We decided that Pepper needed to try it on before she grew too big. Now I just need to find the picture of me wearing it to compare.

Pepper's First Hike

On Sabbath we embarked on a South Fork adventure. The ladies and Grandpa John hiked up the trail to meet Jo and Peter after they did an epic hike up and down the ridge. We had a blast despite the rain. We found cool slugs and earthworms and spotted some deer. The girls did so well and are now going to love hiking forevermore, I'm sure! Pepper slept right through it, of course!

It's a House!

A lot has happened on the house recently. This is mostly due to the fact that framing goes pretty fast. The trusses went up last week. Very cool to watch! Jo continues to work very hard on the rock for the window wells. He is getting close to being done and then he will start on the rock retaining wall outside Mom and Dad's patio. He is doing an excellent job and it looks beautiful!

Home Sweet Home and the Wheat

5 Weeks- Full of Fackenthall Fun!

As soon as the Canwell clan left, Peter, Joy and their girls arrived.  We were so excited to see them! Isabella and Gabrielle are getting so big. They are such sweet girls. It is fun to hear them sing (they have beautiful voices) and to hear Gabrielle's current habit of adding "y" onto everything she says. For instance, there is a spoony, cuppy, shoesies and Grammy. I just can't figure out how she remembers to keep that up all the time! The girls were pretty enthralled with Pepper even though she is a bit boring at this stage. They would frequently gaze at her repeating, "She is sooooo cute!" and Gabrielle calls her "Baby Peppa". Pepper is very blessed to have cousins near her age to play with someday soon. I can't wait to watch their friendship grow through the years. Thank you to Peter and Joy for driving so far to see us!
Pepper had quite a week of growth. She packed on 1 lb 7 oz in one week and has grown an inch since birth. We are so relieved to have her weight going up so steadily!
