Success! We found a trail that was avalanche free, very pretty, and long enough to tire us out. It was wonderful to be out in the fresh, cool air. Pepper and Emmarie had a blast and even napped a bit. The rest of us chatted the whole way, and sang some heartfelt tunes about snow spiders, in Jo's case. The spiders that prompted Jo's song were pretty amazing. Tons of them, crawling all over the snow. Unfortunately for them, they are black, so do not blend into their surroundings very well.
We returned to the cabin starving for haystacks. What a great day!
